The power of art as a healing process is well recognised and Gallery 307 Art School is now offering custom-designed private group art programs to address sensitive issues and to promote community wellbeing using art as a catalyst.
We will provide the expertise of a qualified and registered professional to engage with small groups e.g.:
a) Small private groups of participants will have an opportunity to engage in a program of “art viewing and art making” designed to help those who might need support in dealing with chronic conditions such as memory loss, early onset Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s etc.
Under the guidance of our art therapist, participants will be invited to view the art on exhibition at Gallery 307, and other venues and make an art response, using the Gallery’s facilities.
b) Private group grandparent and child sessions, perhaps connecting generations by sharing and comparing emotions through storytelling and art reflections.
c) Other arrangements as may be agreed.
The aim of these programs is to build trust in an empathic and confidential approach to addressing sensitive and possibly difficult issues. These sessions, directed by a qualified and registered professional, are offered privately, on weeknights, after gallery public open hours and accessing the artworks and other resources within the Gallery.
The objective is to use a modality to connect the aged in our local community by engaging them in process, enabling them to freely express their emotions and empower them by creating art.
The sessions will be led by Anna Barten.
About Anna:
Anna is both an educator and a registered art therapist.
She has a Bachelor of Education degree from the UNSW and a Master of Art Therapy degree from Western Sydney University.
Anna’s art studies have provided her with a theoretical grounding as well as practical training across the areas of drawing, painting and photography and has extended to also include museum education in Miami, USA.
